Orpington Pavilion — Spatial concept and design
The idea for the Orpington Pavilion came from a discussion with a friend about the purpose of design and its importance no matter the scale or the client.
My approach for the pavilion was to create a structure that would provide various internal spaces for the client’s needs to ensure optimal comfort. Material choices were derived from traditional function, but elevated to reinforce the overall permanence of the structure.
Overall, the form is simple and reflective of many structures found throughout rural areas, however, the importance of elevating the nesting area and enclosing it in a reflective surface would prevent predators from accessing the most crucial area of the pavilion.
